In honor of his commitment as

President of the Treasure Coast Fire Chief’s Association

His leadership and life reflected his dedication to our community

 “True heroes do more than rescue,

they inspire, encourage and console.”

 

 

Chief Nolan is remembered  as a father, a prankster and a man of great love, honor and service. He strove to protect the safety and well-being of Indian River County residents for 31 years, 27 of those with the Town of Indian River Shores.

Most recently, Nolan wore three hats with Indian River County Fire Rescue serving as Fire Marshal, director of the Emergency Operations Center and also as the Public Information Officer dealing with the media.

DURRENCE, Donald Vincen, 63, of Lake Placid, Fla., went peacefully to his heavenly home, Friday, August 20, 2010, in a restful sleep. His devoted wife, loving daughters and grandchildren were at his bedside. Don graduated from Lake Placid High School in 1967, and went to work at Lake Placid Firestone. August 16, 1971, he went to work for State of Florida Division of Forestry, as a forest ranger for 39 years as Smokey Bears friend, protecting Florida' s natural habitat and wildlife. Don enjoyed fishing and hunting.
